Before we get into the nitty gritty about writing content, let’s make sure we understand some words about to be thrown around.
Latent Semantic Indexing (LSI) is an algorithm that scores the relevance of text (or a webpage) against a term, even if the content does not contain that term. It spots patterns of related words or synonyms to determine the relevancy. Keyword or key phrase stuffing is repeating a keyword, or group of key phrases within text to make it appear to be more relevant. This is often seen in Title Tags as well as page content. The following comic illustrates this quite humourously: http://www.rankedhard.com/keyword-st...d-stuffing.php What Makes a Good Link? PageRank, structure, and traffic aside, you’re probably thinking a good link is one from a relevant website. Correct! If you’ve been around a bit more, you’re probably also thinking that appropriate anchor text helps. It does, you’re right again! But there’s another element to this equation: surrounding content. What makes article and blog writing so powerful? Links are surrounded by relevant content (so long as it's not duplicate content, that would be bad). This gives the link a little more mmph! More info about this can be had at: (can anyone find a good link for this?) “Write Content for the Users not the Search Engines” If you’ve been active on any SEO forum or chat room, chances are that you’ve seen this term a lot. And it’s really straight forward. Just write content for the users… great. But it’s hard to do that, when you know your real goal is to rank! Yeah, it’s rank AND users that you’re after, but often changing your mindset can be hard to not think about ranking when you’re hard at work. A lot of webmasters and SEOs will try to write content just for the sake of ranking, and in doing so, they primarily push their trophy keywords (main keywords they’re after- short tail and common long tail). This is where LSI comes into play. By not using other relevant terms and using trophy keywords everywhere, it becomes obvious to the search engines AND your users that you’re just writing content for the sake of writing content.
