What is the purpose of the "PageRank" on the Google Bar on a browser?
What information is it providing about the page? How does Google
compute this number?

please explain to me briefly...

The page rank indicates " How many sites/links linked to your website" means Quality of Back links. Automatically you will be get good rankings with more back links to your website.

pR specifies the quality of site as well as a good and content provided by that site is also indicated. this is based on the no of external link and internal link provided by that site
